OMG! There was a creepy crawly thing in my water glass on the desk!
- I almost screamed in disgust.
- (Bugs are not my thing.)
Instead, I took a deep breath and got logical.
- I didn’t have my contacts in and don’t see as well with just glasses.
- Maybe it wasn’t as bad as I thought?
So, I took a photo with my phone to see better.
- It was worse than I thought!
- Not only was the thing almost as big as my little finger.
- It also had pinchers ready to bite me with!
Were there more in my hotel room?
- I checked my body for bites. (None – thank goodness!)
- What if it infected my suitcase?
- Safety Girl was totally activated – and spinning possible issues.
I debated how to get rid of it.
- Squish it by slamming another glass into it?
- Dump it in the hallway – and pray it didn’t follow me back in my room!
I decided to be brave and get a closer look.
- It looked bigger as I approached.
- Where the heck did it come from?
- This was such a nice hotel room!
I grabbed the glass and looked in it – and the creepy crawly thing wasn’t there.
- Had I thrown it on myself?
- Nope.
- What the heck?
I set the glass down to look around.
- Took a step back – and saw the darn thing in the glass again.
- What was going on?
Long story shorter…the hotel used fancy water glasses.
- The bottom of the glass was not smooth.
- It had artwork of sorts with lots of angles in it.
- Which created the optical illusion of the creepy crawly thing!
All that drama and anxiety for something that didn’t exist.
Boy, did I feel dumb.
Makes me think of people who want to build their confidence and networking skills…are you sure the fears in your way are real?
