Okay. So maybe I WAS 30 minutes early…
Thankfully, he laughed.
I met one of my favorite people in ASAE – American Society of Association Executives.
- We met volunteering on the same project.
- Had a blast.
- And became forever friends.
We get together every few months to catch up.
- When we set the time this winter, I was not working out with my new trainer.
- The meeting times backed up to each other for today.
- Luckily, my trainer had some flexibility, so my 10 AM appointment became 9 AM.
It was going to be tight – but I could make both appointments work.
Somehow, in my mind, my catch-up call shifted from 11 AM to 10:30 AM.
- I ran from the gym.
- May have pressed a few lights driving back home.
- Slapped on some makeup.
And hopped onto my meeting at exactly 10:30 AM.
- I was on an adrenaline high.
- Proud of myself for making the tight times work.
And my usually timely friend did not show up.
- He was more than 5 minutes late – so not him.
- What the heck?
- I sent him an email verifying I was in the right meeting space.
He popped into the meeting screen laughing at me – seems I was 30 minutes early.
WHOOPS!
- He credited the time zones – even though we are both in ET.
- I blamed him for being so interesting that I compressed time.
His schedule was flexible, so we started early and launched into a fun conversation that still has me smiling.
