This morning, I attended a Zoom meeting.
We started with a short networking breakout.
Everyone was supposed to introduce themselves – and share their favorite pasta.
- I was in a group with two women and a man.
- As we went around the group, everyone dutifully introduced themselves and their favorite pasta.
Then it got to me.
- I debated whether to tell the truth or answer the question as expected.
- Since I didn’t feel like being a Good Girl, I shared my truth.
“I’m not a pasta fan, so my favorite pasta to eat is steak!”
- The women sort of laughed and gasped uncomfortably.
- The man in the group cheered me on.
- He also wants to go out for “pasta” with me! LOL
Makes me think of successful women raised as Good Girls… how often do you automatically follow the rules as expected – even when the stakes are low?
