250 Milliseconds That Matter Big Time

250 milliseconds can change your life
250 milliseconds can impact your future in big ways.

(That’s 1/4 of a second!)

Research by Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital found that people assess your competence, likability, and trustworthiness in a quarter of a second based on how you look.

If you are a successful woman raised as a Good Girl, the super-fast impression can be a challenge for you.

  • With that speed, people pick up your energy as part of their gut read.
  • Your energy broadcasts how you feel about yourself.

As selfless servants responsible for everyone’s feelings, Good Girls are taught everyone is more important than they are.

  • What you think, feel, or want does not matter.

  • You are never enough – there is always more to do.

  • This can develop into you feeling like you are not worthy.

It’s hard to make a great first impression when these core beliefs have not been addressed.

Being an empowered woman can feel forced and brittle when you push forward – without totally believing in yourself.

It makes interactions much harder than they need to be.

For example, many of my clients notice that people called them “intimidating” when they first came to work with me – and “confident” once we break them free from Good Girl Rules.

Thankfully, breaking free from Good Girls Rules is a choice any woman can make.

It’s a journey of commitment and bravery – and can be done if desired.
